词汇学习中[E]表示单词的英文解释，[C]表示单词的中文解释。
1. boom
[E] if business, trade, or a particular area is booming, it is increasing and being very successful
[C]企业等处於经济迅速发展时期。
e.g. Business was booming , and money wasn't a problem.
→扩展记忆：baby boom: an increase in the number of babies born during a particular period, #pared to other times - used especially about people born between 1946 and 1964
e.g. the baby boom generation
2. flourish
[E]to develop well and be successful; to grow well and be very healthy
[C]实行或进展得好；活跃，处于最多产、最优秀或最有影响的时期；生长得繁茂。
e.g. No village on the railroad failed to flourish.
→扩展记忆：flourish还可表示挥舞某物以引起注意的意思。比如：She walked quickly to the desk, flourishing her check book.
3. Prosper
[E] if people or businesses prosper, they grow and develop in a successful way, especially by be#ing rich or making a large profit
[C]繁盛，取得成功，尤对某人财富和企业而言；变得强壮和繁茂。
e.g. China is prospering with each passing day.
4. Thrive
[E] to be#e very successful or very strong and healthy
[C] 取得财富上的成功；健壮、茂盛地成长。
e.g. A business can not thrive without good management.
→扩展记忆：短语thrive on:to enjoy or be successful in a particular situation, especially one that other people find difficult or unpleasant.

对于boom和prosper这两个词，区别在于boom用于企业等的时候含有扩张，也就是expand和increase的含义在里面，是一个变化的状态，而prosper只是强调一种繁荣的状态而已。你觉得呢？
