词汇学习中[E]表示单词的英文解释，[C]表示单词的中文解释。
1. Adjudge
[E] declare officially or decide by law
[C]定……的罪，定……的刑。
e.g. The court adjudged that she was guilty.
☆扩展记忆： ~ sth to sb :award sth to sb 将某事物判给、断与某人：
e.g. The court adjudged legal damages to her.
2. Sentence
[E] state that sb is to have a certain punishment
[C]法庭强加给罪犯的惩罚，或者推迟执行该惩罚的判决。
e.g. He has been sentenced to pay a fine of 1000.
☆扩展记忆： sentence还有一个引申的用法，表示束缚。
e.g. a crippling disease which sentenced him to a lifetime in a wheelchair
3. Pass
[E] to officially decide how a criminal will be punished, and to announce what the punishment will be
[C]宣判、宣布一项意见、判决或审判。
e.g. pass sentence on an offender, pass judgment on a matter
☆扩展记忆：那pass a remark是什么意思呢？--只是"作评论"啦，没有别的意思~~
4. Adjudicate
[E] to officially decide who is right in a disagreement and decide what should be done
[C]通过司法程序听取及解决（案件）；裁度研究并解决（争议或争论）。
e.g. The owner can appeal to the court to adjudicate on the matter.
☆扩展记忆：常见搭配是adjudicate on/upon sth.表示就某事做出裁定。
Adjudicator是指竞赛中的裁判。
学习手记：
今天这几个词还是不太容易区分的，对于这样的词，建议大家按照程度轻重和使用环境来区别记忆。这几个词中，程度最轻的应该是pass。需要注意的是Adjudge只是一个宣判的动作，所引出的结果可以是有罪，也可以是无罪的。而sentence的对象则已经是确认的罪犯了。
